Resolution

Resolved, that the School Reform Commission hereby amends Resolution SRC-2 approved on March 21, 2008, to reflect the following noted changes in the calendar the for schools, early childhood programs, and administrative offices for the school year 2008-2009:

  1. The sessions for teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel begins September 2, 2008, and closes June 23, 2009.

    School-based personnel will not be required to be in school on the following holidays and non-working days: September 30. October 1, October 9, October 13, November 11, 27, 28, December 24 through January 2, January 19, February 16, April 6 through 10, and May 25.

    Teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel will be in attendance 188 days.

  2. The sessions for elementary and secondary pupils begins September 04, 2008, and closes June 19, 2009. The first day for Prekindergarten Head Start and Bright Futures pupils will be September 11, 2008. The first day for Kindergarten pupils will be September 11, 2008.

    Pupils will not be in attendance on the following days: September 1 through September 3, September 30, October 1, October 9, October 13, November 4, November 11, November 27-28, December 24 through January 2, January 19, February 5, February 16, April 6 through April 10, May 19, and May 25.

    Students will be in attendance for 181 days.

  3. Administrative Offices and Comprehensive Early Learning Centers will be open Monday through Friday, with the exception of the following holidays and non-working days: July 4, September 1, September 30, October 1, October 9, October 13, November 11, November 27-28, December 25-26, January 1, January 19, February 16, April 10, and May 25.

  4. Comprehensive Early Learning Centers follow the calendar for administrative offices.

  5. In the event that schools are closed due to inclement weather or emergency, June 18, 2009, and the required number of days thereafter, will be days of pupil and staff attendance to satisfy the State minimum of 180 instructional days.
