Resolved, that the School Reform Commission hereby approves the calendar for schools, early childhood programs, and
administrative offices for the school year 2011-2012. The calendar shall be as follows:
The sessions for teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel begin September 1, 2011, and close June 19,
2012.
School-based personnel will not be required to be in school on the following holidays and non-working days: September 5,
September 29-30, October 10, November 11, 24, 25, December 26 through January 2, January 16, February 20, April 2 through
April 6, (unless used to make up loss instructional days due to school closing because of emergency or inclement weather)
and May 28.
Teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel will be in attendance 188 days.
The sessions for elementary and secondary pupils begin September 6, 2011, and close June 14, 2012.
The first day for Pre-kindergarten, Head Start and Bright Futures pupils will be September 13, 2011.
The first day for Kindergarten pupils will be September 13, 2011.
Students will not be in attendance on the following days: August 30, August 31, 2011, September 1 through
September 5, September 29-30, October 10, November 8, November 11, November 24-25, December 26
through January 2, January 16, February 20, April 2 through April 6, (unless used to make up loss
instructional days due to school closing because of emergency or inclement weather) April 24, and May 28.
Students will be in attendance for 181 days.
Administrative Offices and Comprehensive Early Learning Centers will be open Monday through
Friday, with the exception of the following holidays and non-working days: July 4, September 5,
September 29-30, October 10, November 11, November 24-25, December 26, January 2, January 16,
February 20, April 6, and May 28.
Comprehensive Early Learning Centers follow the calendar for administrative offices.
In the event that schools are closed due to inclement weather or emergency, April 2, 3, 4, and June 19,
2012, and the required number of days thereafter, will be days of pupil and staff attendance to satisfy
the State minimum of 181 instructional days.
