Resolved, that the School Reform Commission hereby approves the calendar for schools, early childhood programs, and
administrative offices for the school year 2012-2013. The calendar shall be as follows:
The sessions for teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel begin September 4, 2012 and
closes June 24, 2013.
School-based personnel will not be required to be in school on the following holidays and non-working
days: September 3, September 17-18, September 26, October 8, November 12, November 22-23,
December 24 through January 1, January 21, February 18, March 25 through March 29, (unless used to
make up loss instructional days due to school closing because of emergency or inclement weather) and
May 27.
Teachers and non-administrative school-based personnel will be in attendance 188 days.
The sessions for elementary and secondary pupils begin September 7, 2012, and close June 21, 2013.
The first day for Pre-kindergarten, Head Start and Bright Futures pupils will be September 19, 2012. The
first day for Kindergarten pupils will be September 19, 2012.
Students will not be in attendance on the following days: September 1 through September 6, September
17-18, September 26, October 8, November 6, November 12, November 22-23, December 24 through
January 1, January 21, February 6, February 18, March 25 through March 29, (unless used to make up
loss instructional days due to school closing because of emergency or inclement weather) May 21, and
May 27.
Students will be in attendance for 181 days.
Administrative Offices and Comprehensive Early Learning Centers will be open Monday through
Friday, with the exception of the following holidays and non-working days: July 4, September 3,
September 17-18, September 26, October 8, November 12, November 22-23, December 24, December
25, January 1, January 21, February 18, March 29, and May 27.
Comprehensive Early Learning Centers follow the calendar for administrative offices.
In the event that schools are closed due to inclement weather or emergency, March 25, 26, 27, and June
21, 2013, and the required number of days thereafter, will be days of pupil and staff attendance to satisfy
the State minimum of 180 instructional days.
