Q: I've downloaded a file, now how do I open it?

A: A file is on your desktop and you want to open it. This can be accomplished in one of several ways:

  1. CHOICE 1 (MAC):
    • click once on the file
    • click on the FILE menu at the top of your screen
    • scroll down to OPEN WITH
    • scroll right, to choose the program you wish to open the file with
  2. CHOICE 2 (MAC/PC):
    • start the program you wish to open the file with
    • within the program open the file on your desktop
  3. CHOICE 3 (MAC/PC):
    • drag the file over the icon of the program you wish to open the file with
    • this will cause the program to open the file (if possible)
Keep in mind that if the file is a PDF (ends with .pdf) you may need Acrobat Reader in order to open the file.
