Career Development
The Career Development Community contains approximately 200 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The Career Development community provides opportunities for workplace visitations, conversations with role models from a variety of professions, and research into careers. The recruiting of parents and community members in target careers is a primary resource in our research. The office of Career Development and the TLN serve aw consultants. This year we will incorporate a Career Fair in which various professionals from the community will share their occupations. Our staff members also provide input about their career choices to the students during special assemblies. Parents are also invited into the classrooms to share their careers with students. We plan trips for the students so they can be exposed to various career opportunities. The community focuses on providing students with the knowledge and resources to make choices which optimize their potential in the world of work. The community also focuses on behavior and a common discipline code which fosters high expectations and high achievement. Last, study habits and critical thinking skills which support the Children Achieving goal of establishing life long learners are of paramount importance.
