Community Of Caring
Sharon Fleming, Chairperson
A.D. Harrington chose to adopt Community of Caring and its philosophy. It believes in five core values: Respect, Responsibility, Trust, Family, and Caring. Our mission is to get students, staff, parents, family, businesses, and community all involved so that we, as a team, can influence the children's attitudes toward themselves, their families, their schools, and their community.
We chose to start with improving staff morale because if we don't fully believe what we are to teach to the children then we will not incorporate these values into our everyday lives let alone our lesson plans. One of the things which will improve staff morale is a bulletin board titled "Seen Being Kind". The staff is to write notes and place them on the board. The notes may consist of "Thank You's" and/or "I've noticed..." At the end of every month we will place those notes on a poster board and laminate them.
By the look of the "Seen Being Kind" board people are really starting to take notice of the kind things that others do for them every day.
