Exploration Learning Family (ELF)
Our learning community contains approximately 150 students. There are 5 kindergraten classes and 1 first grade class in our community. We are housed in our own separate building, the Annex, which is across the street from the main building. The primary focus of our SLC is to provide our students with a quality education in a very supportive and caring environment. We are striving to give our young learners a positive experience for their beginning years. We will concentrate on developing excellent social skills among our students, parents, and staff. Many activities are planned that will allow our students and their familes opportunities to interact with the staff. These include trips, assembly programs, a Halloween Parade, workshops, holiday parties, and Play Day.
Various themes will be introduced to the students, using as many real life experiences and hands-on activities as possible. The students will be given many opportunities to explore their enviroment as they learn by doing.
Due to changes in the structure of the school's communities, the ELF community will cease to exist as of September 2000. The former members will be joining the other three communities: SMILE, Arts Empower, and Careers.
