Enrollment and the J.S. Jenks Administrative Area
Parents living in the Jenks administrative boundary, depicted to the right, can automatically register their child by filing a completed application with the School.
Parents living outside the boundary but within Philadelphia can also apply to Jenks. In this case, it is particularly important to apply promptly, no later than November 18th, 2005 for the 2006-2007 school year. Out-of-area parents should complete an EH-36 form (to be submitted to their neighborhood school) and will be informed of their child's admission status by February 15, 2006.
Please note that the townhouses of Chestnut Hill Village, 220 E. Mermaid Lane, are not part of the Jenks School Boundries.


Requirements for First-Time Enrollment

  • Kindergarten age requirement: Children must reach their 5th birthday by September 1 in order to enroll in kindergarten.

  • Required Documentation:

    • Birth Certificate or Hospital Record
    • Immunization Record (listing ALL shots given since birth) required by the state of Pennsylvania:
      • Diptheria/Tetanus (DPT)-- 4 required with on after the 4th birthday.
      • Polio (OPV)-- 3 shots required.
      • Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)-- 2 shots required after 12 months of age.
      • Hepatitis B-- series of 3 shots must be started.
      • Varicella (Chickenpox)-- 1 shot or history of disease.
    • Proof of address: The parent or legal guardian must show at least one (1) proof of address showing that they live within the school's boundary, such as a utility bill (gas or electrical), PA driver's license or PA non-driver's ID, a PA Vehicle Registration, or a Pay Stub with the name and address of the employer and employee. If you live in the Chestnut Hill Village Apartments or Wyndmoor Apartments, a lease must be presented as your proof of address.
    • Child's Social Security Number

  • Physical and Dental Examination: A physical and dental examination is required upon entering school for the first time. A form will be given to you at the time of enrollment.
