General Computer Issues

First steps to take when you have a problem with your computer:
Ensure that the power cord is plugged into computer
Make sure power cord is plugged into the outlet

If the computer is frozen:
For Macs, press the Reset Button (button with a triangle on it)
If that doesn't work, press and hold the power button for a few seconds, then when the screen goes dark, press the power button again

For Windows, press and hold the power button for a few seconds, then when the screen goes dark, press the power button again

If a flashing folder or globe appears during startup (Macs only)
Restart the computer and press and hold Apple, Option, P, and R keys until the startup screen appears
Mouse and/or keyboard are not working (Macs only)
Ensure that the mouse is plugged into the USB slot in the keyboard and that the keyboard is plugged into the USB slot in the computer
Want to install/unistall software
Place the CD into the CD-ROM drive and wait until the computer loads the information
Follow the instructions given with the CD to install the software
