A letter to the 4th through 8th grade students of Philadelphia.
June 19, 2008
Dear Students,
I can’t believe the school year is over. I hope you had an enjoyable school year and you learned many lessons from your teacher.
Now that summer is here, I know you look forward to a fun summer vacation, filled with friends, family, travel and adventure. Just remember to include reading as part of your weekly summer fun.
Read a few books and you will be hooked.
So make a plan to journey to a far away land.
Solve a mystery or learn about history.
Meet new people or an old friend, but one thing is for certain, you will improve your reading skills by summer’s end.
I look forward to seeing you in September. In the meantime, enjoy your summer vacation.
Have fun and stay safe!
Your friend,
Mrs. Ackerman
Superintendent of Schools
