Welcome to Centralized Tutoring!
Below you will find information about the FREE and FLEXIBLE tutoring options coordinated by the Office of Academic Supports. We provide virtual tutoring for students in grades 3-12! Reading and Mathematics are among the subjects offered to elementary and middle school students. Students in high school can get help with Algebra 1 and 2, English 1, 2, 3, and 4, and Science.
Our team is currently working to provide a range of central office coordinated free tutoring options for 3-12 students across the School District of Philadelphia. Currently, these options include:
Grades 3-12 virtual tutoring in partnership with one of our three vendors: FEV Tutor, Catapult Learning, and TutorMe Education. This option is accessed at home, based on your availability Monday – Thursday, between the hours of 4:00 pm – 6:15 pm.
Our goals are to:
- Provide instructional support and opportunity for grade improvement to students in danger of failing English or Math.
- Provide additional opportunities for mastery of course content and skills, working towards proficiency and beyond.
- Enhance students’ approaches to learning by becoming more skilled readers, note-takers, and strategic learners in the digital environment.
- Expand students’ toolbox of methods to solve problems by becoming more skilled at explicitly thinking about their reasoning processes, and developing strategies that work for them.
- Develop systematic methods for learning from problem sets, including: how to apply and transfer conceptual knowledge; identify common obstacles and errors; and contextualize individual problems within the themes and concepts of the course.
