Summer learning programs are proven to reinforce and build new skills, sending young people back to school in September ready to learn. Additionally, summer youth employment programs engage older youth in meaningful activities that help them cultivate new skills, prepare for college, improve grades, and earn money.<\/p>\n

This virtual program will prepare and increase the confidence of rising kindergarteners and their families. Families who have completed registration for Kindergarten will receive an email invitation with program information and a link to apply.<\/p>\n

Summer Achievers (Grades 1-8) <\/strong>– Appropriate for students entering 1st through 8th grade<\/strong> in Fall 2026, this full-day, free and fun enrichment program offers the traditional summer camp experience plus support in math and reading, to prepare students to start the next school year strong.<\/p>\n

CTE Summer Camps (Grades 6-8) <\/strong>– Appropriate for students entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade<\/strong> in Fall 2026 and interested in exploring CTE options. Students will participate in a week-long summer camp program that prepares them for instruction related to a variety of areas associated with Career and Technical Education in our high schools.<\/p>\n

Summer Drumline (Grades 6-12) – <\/strong>Appropriate for students entering 6th through 12th grade<\/strong> in Fall 2026, Summer Drumline is a five-week, hands-on program that teaches the fundamentals of drumline percussion. Students will perform in an ensemble and receive supplemental music instruction.<\/p>\n

NEW! <\/strong>Arts Intensive Summer Program (Grades 7-11) – <\/strong>Appropriate for students entering 7th through 11th grade<\/strong> in Fall 2026, Arts Intensive Summer Program is a five-week, hands-on program that features rigorous studio practice and technical skill development. Students will immerse themselves in an elite artistic environment designed exclusively for those who are serious about their creative growth. Whether students are in middle school preparing for a special admit high school audition, or in high school building a competitive college portfolio, this program provides the foundation for their journey.<\/p>\n

All City Orchestra Summer Academy (Grades 6-12)<\/strong> – Appropriate for students who will be entering 6th through 12th grade<\/strong> in Fall 2026, this partnership with the Mann Center for the Performing Arts, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Project 440, is the District\u2019s premier summer instrumental music training camp for young instrumentalists. High-quality orchestra and jazz training experience is offered at zero cost.<\/p>\n

Young Entrepreneurs <\/strong>(Grade 9) <\/strong>– Appropriate for students entering 9th grade<\/strong> in Fall 2026, students will spend five weeks gaining real-world, practical experience while learning how to start a business.<\/p>\n

GEAR UP Summer Experience (Grades 10 -11) <\/strong>– Appropriate for students entering 10th & 11th grade <\/strong>in Fall 2026, at one of the GEAR UP High Schools. GEAR UP\u2019s Exploring Tomorrow Internship Program seeks to provide students with hands-on experience that will build professional skills and will allow students to understand the fundamentals of employment. Students in this program will have the opportunity to earn a stipend of up to $1,500.<\/p>\n

StartUp EDU (Grades 10-12) – <\/strong>Appropriate for students entering 10th through 12th grade<\/strong> in Fall 2026, students will spend five weeks gaining an entrepreneurial mindset, as well as the skills needed to start a business.<\/p>\n

CareerPrep Externships\/Paid Internships (Grades 9-12)<\/strong> – Appropriate for students who are currently in high school<\/strong>, students will be provided meaningful work-based learning and academic enrichment experiences designed to build upon their high school classes.<\/p>\n

Senior Year Only Program (Grade 12)<\/strong> – Appropriate for students entering 12th grade <\/strong>in Fall 2026, students enroll in Senior Year Only Program classes on the campus of a community college.<\/p>\n

CTE Summer Employment Programs (Grades 9-12) <\/strong>– Appropriate for current Career and Technical Education students<\/strong>, who will be provided meaningful work-based learning and academic enrichment experiences designed to build upon technical skills mastered in their respective CTE classes. This program is by invitation only.<\/p>\n

Summer School (Credit Recovery)\/Act 158 (Grades 9-12) <\/strong>– Appropriate for students in current 9th through 12th grades<\/strong> who have failed a previous course or seniors who did not complete ACT 158 requirements. Summer School\/Act 158 provides an opportunity to earn the grades, credits and requirements needed to remain on track for graduation.<\/p>\n

Newcomer Program (English Learners in Grades 1-8)<\/strong> – This invite-only program <\/strong>is appropriate for English Learner students entering 1st through 8th grade<\/strong> who enrolled in the District after January 1, 2025 and<\/strong> have a current English Proficiency Level of 1.0-1.5.<\/p>\n

Extended School Year (Grades 1-12) – <\/strong>Extended School Year provides special education services for eligible students beyond the regular 180-day school year.
