Our Mission

The Mission of The Office of The Arts & Creative Learning is to ensure that all students are provided access to high quality, culturally relevant and responsive arts instruction that promotes artistic expression, creativity, design thinking, and cultural awareness. Universal access to arts education begins in the elementary grades with a foundation of sequential instruction taught by certified arts educators, enriched through a “shared delivery” framework for collaboration with arts partners and integration in general subject classes, leading to experiential learning and ensembles in the middle grades, and college and career readiness through majors, electives, and arts & humanities in high school.

Our Vision

All students in the School District of Philadelphia will have access to arts education across all grades that leads to culturally aware learners who embrace creativity. The SDP will serve as core member of Philadelphia’s Creative Economy and be regarded as a model school district for arts education.
