Drop-Off and Pick Up Procedures

The safety of our students is one of our greatest concerns. As members of the C.C.A. Baldi Middle School, we are all concerned about our student’s safety when traveling to and from school. Many parents have expressed this at recent meetings. Several people dropping off and picking up students are not paying attention to basic safety, courtesy, and traffic laws potentially putting others at risk for injury. Students who have been given a bus transpass or assigned bussing are urged to ride the bus to and from school to help minimize car traffic around the school. We are currently working with the Philadelphia Police, School District of Philadelphia and PennDot resolve this issue to ensure a safer admittance and dismissal procedure.

The following regulations will ensure safer transportation when traveling to and from school:

No Parking – According to Title 75 Law, section 3353, no person shall park their vehicle on a crosswalk and any place where official signs prohibit parking. Absolutely no car traffic is permitted in the bus zone at arrival/dismissal times. No vehicles will be permitted in this area during the school day. Be mindful of these spaces around the school.

Speed Limit is 15 MPH – According to Title 75 Law, section 3365, no person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 15 miles per hour when passing through school zones.

No U-turn – According to Title 75 Law, section 3332, the driver of any vehicle shall not turn the vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction unless the movement can be made in safety and without interfering with other traffic.

School Parking Lot – There is no parking or waiting for students to be picked up in the SCHOOL PARKING LOT. The school parking lot is open for pick-ups at 3:30 PM.

Crosswalk – All parents and students should use the CROSSWALK crossing to and from school. Again, there is NO parking in the crosswalk.

Respect our Neighborhood – Do not block driveways of neighbors.

* We will continue to report violations to the Philadelphia Police.
* We have established the following areas for students to be dropped off and picked up (see below for Map):

We would like to thank you for your attention to this concern. The safety of our students is everyone’s responsibility and only by working together can we ensure that our students travel to and from school as safely as possible.
