Barton School Closure Robocall:
Good evening Barton families. This is a very important message. Clara Barton Elementary School will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14. During an inspection of the attic late this afternoon, damaged asbestos-containing material was identified. While the ventilation system in the attic has NOT been used for many years, we have decided to close the school on Thursday and Friday so the Office of Environmental Management can completely seal off the attic and conduct any needed testing. All bus service for students will be suspended. Breakfast and lunch meals will be available for pickup at Feltonville Intermediate School at 238 E. Wyoming Avenue on both days from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. We apologize for the short notice but want to ensure that we are taking every precaution when it comes to the safety of our students and staff. We will keep you informed as additional plans are finalized. Again school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 13 and 14. Thank you for your understanding as we ensure a safe school environment at Barton.

Buenas noches familias de la escuela Barton. Este es un mensaje muy importante. La escuela primaria Clara Barton estará cerrada mañana jueves 13 de febrero y el viernes 14 de febrero. En una inspección que se llevó a cabo en el ático esta tarde, se identificó material dañado que contiene asbesto. Aunque el sistema de ventilación del ático NO se ha usado en años, hemos decidido cerrar la escuela el jueves y el viernes para que la Oficina de Control Ambiental pueda sellar completamente el ático y realizar las pruebas necesarias. El servicio de transportación de los estudiantes será suspendido. Los desayunos y almuerzos se podrán recoger en ambos días de 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. en la escuela Feltonville Intermediate, localizada en la Avenida Wyoming Este # 238. Pedimos disculpas por el corto plazo en que se les avisa, pero queremos asegurarnos de tomar todas las precauciones necesarias en todo lo relacionado a la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal.
