The new Solis Cohen, K-5, ES features a 140,000 sq. ft., two-story high building with modern amenities that benefit student learning as well as their environment. The new building features grand learning stairs that promote 21st-century learning and creates the heart and center of the school where students can learn and socialize. The cafetorium invites the outdoors in, with a grand view of the plaza. The gym provides an opportunity for the students to exercise and compete in sports. The layout of these 3 staple spaces allows public access to them, but not to the classroom wings.

The classrooms are sorted by grade and each grade occupies a wing: 1st and 2nd grades are located on the 1st floor and 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades are on the 2nd floor. All wings feature student commons for small group instruction and team projects.
The building also features energy-efficient equipment and lighting, as well as a green roof and stormwater management system. The building is on track for LEED Gold certification and has won a $2 M Ace Grant.

Security is provided through an “eyes on the street” approach as well as camera systems. The administration office is located just off the main entrance providing tighter control over access to the school.

The exterior of the building fits into the neighborhood fabric and utilizes similar materials such as brick and stone.
The site is well-landscaped and provides for play area for students of all ages. The play area is fenced for the safety of the students.
160 parking spaces will be available for school staff and visitors along with a drop-off loop that allows parents to safely transport their children to and from school.
