GEAR UP Project Goals
The GEAR UP Program (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs), is designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. The program model, named College & Career Readiness Collaborative Communities (CRCC ), is a capacity-building initiative, designed to have an impact on students and schools that lasts well beyond the end of federal funding, with a heavy emphasis on facilitating partnership contributions and building a collaborative structure at the school level.
GEAR UP CRCC Project Goals
- Increase the academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education for GEAR UP students
- Increase the rate of high school graduation and enrollment in postsecondary education for GEAR UP students
- Increase students’ and their families’ knowledge of postsecondary education options, preparation, and financing
The project is in its 7th year, providing services to current 12th grade and first year college students. All students that are part of the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 in all 12 GEAR UP High Schools have the opportunity to participate in all GEAR UP services/programming.
The CRCC Project partners with colleges and universities, local organizations and nationally renowned educational companies to help build an educational pipeline for students to realize their college dreams. By building a supporting network made up of schools, parents, businesses, and community organizations, we are committed to empowering all GEAR UP students for success.
