As the 2019-2020 school year nears its halfway point, the School District of Philadelphia is encouraging students to remain active readers over the winter break.

In conjunction with the Read by 4th Campaign and American Reading Company, the School District of Philadelphia’s website will have literacy activities and free access to exciting, vibrant, digital books for families of students in PreK through Grade 3 during the winter break.

“We are proud to see investments, especially in early literacy, are paying off, and we are proud of the significant progress that our students have made,” said Dr. William R. Hite, superintendent. “However, we know significant change takes time, and we’re excited to provide resources to assist families during the winter break.”

Make active reading and writing an everyday thing at home over the winter break by spending 20-30 minutes a day using the activities and digital books with your children. Let’s read together to make our children’s future successful!

Visit www.philasd.org/earlychildhood/ and click on the Winter Break Literacy Activities link for access to materials.  The link will be accessible through January 5, 2020.
