Updated Schedule: Carnell to Reopen Monday, Jan. 13
PHILADELPHIA — Laura H. Carnell Elementary School will reopen to students and staff tomorrow, Monday, January 13.
Necessary repairs have been completed and testing has confirmed that the school is safe for the reoccupancy of students and staff on Monday.
Before winter break, damage to asbestos-containing pipe insulation was found at both Carnell and Alexander McClure elementary schools. Carnell and McClure have remained closed until all abatement work has been completed, and air testing and cleaning have been conducted.
As a reminder, the anticipated re-entry date for students and staff at Alexander McClure School is Wednesday, January 15, with the exception of the Pre-K classes, which are expected to resume at McClure on Tuesday, January 21.
Results of the air quality tests will be made available on the District’s website at www.philasd.org/capitalprograms/healthy-schools/. Families, media and the public are urged to monitor the District website at www.philasd.org for updated information.
