We Press Forward and Carry On...

Greetings Crossan Community:

I hope that you all have enjoyed your summer!  We will enter the 2023-2024 school year under our vision of, “Embracing positive change today, to create a new future tomorrow” and our instructional vision of: “Creating and solving complex problems to improve our daily lives”. The Crossan instructional team will continue to deliver top-notch instruction in a way that supports the need of our leaders. Our instructional priority this school year is completing unfinished learning.

Two parent meetings will be held on August 29th; one meeting for our K-2 parents at 10 am and the other meeting for our 3-5 parents at 1 pm.  The purpose of the meeting is to acquaint you with our school priorities and our school practices in addition to addressing any questions that you may have.  Following each meeting, the Crossan Team will distribute school supplies free of charge for all parents that attended the meeting.

In-person learning for all leaders starts on September 5, 2023 at 8:30 am and the school day ends at 3:09 pm for our leaders in grades 1-5.  September 5th through September 11th, will be half-days for our kindergarten leaders to make time for their kindergarten interviews.  On the first day of school, and for the remainder of the week, leaders will be required to enter through the Bleigh and Palmetto gates to connect with their teacher in the yard.

Leaders will be expected to utilize google classroom and some learning will continue with the use of laptops.  Laptops will be distributed and assigned to our leaders during the first week of school. We will continue to communicate important school related information through Class Dojo, so make sure that your email is current in the main office.  Your child’s teacher will invite you into their dojo class, so please respond to their invite, or you will miss important school-related announcements.  There is also a video on this site to support you with joining class dojo.

More information about our return to school in the fall will be shared with you on this website and via class dojo.  In the meantime, I encourage you to visit the School District of Philadelphia’s website on a regular basis for the most up to date information on our return to school at: www.philasd.org/ringthebell.  I look forward to the start of the new year and we will continue to do our best to make sure that this year is full of learning and community strengthening.  If you have any questions, or immediate needs, please feel free to send an email to: crossan@philasd.org or call the school at 215-400-3160.  Please enjoy the rest of your summer and I cannot wait to see you all at the parent meeting on August 29th!

Sincerely,

Dr. Khadijah Bright
