The Health Management program prepares students who want to work in the healthcare industry as a business management professional, rather than a doctor or nurse. This coursework combines business and healthcare in a unique program focused on the management side of healthcare. Students learn to classify medical information and prepare records under the supervision of a medical records administrator. This program includes instruction in medical records science, medical terminology, record classification, computer operation and management of information systems. Students also learn medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, communication skills, ethics and applicable laws and regulations, plus training on medical billing and coding. These skills give graduates an advantage in the health management job market after graduation.
