Are U.S. Teachers Using High-Quality Instructional Materials?

A RAND data note explores the proportion of U.S. teachers who reported using high-quality mathematics and ELA materials in 2017-18. The authors found that mathematics teachers were more likely than ELA teachers to report regular use of at least one high-quality material; more middle school ELA teachers used high-quality materials than elementary or high school ELA teachers; and teachers in states participating in the High Quality Instructional Materials and Professional Development Network were more likely to use high-quality materials.
