February 16, 2023: Discover the Restorative Practices of the Office of School Safety

For our students and families, the safety of their school is more than important. In a school district as large as ours, there are many important conversations to be had about how schools in our District are helping to keep schools and students safe and what types of practices our Safety Officers are using. We’ve heard from so many families who also wonder about who our Safety Officers are, or wonder what kind of training they have had? So, we’ve worked with School Safety leadership staff including School Safety Chief Bethel to bring you a FACT workshop designed to give you information all about the innovative work their office is doing right now. This is a great chance to hear a presentation from School Safety leadership, ask questions, and learn all about restorative approaches, how the officers are trained, how you as a family member can partner with School Safety to help out, and so much more.

Chief Bethel added that “It is important for us to be transparent about how we are keeping our schools safe, what work we are doing, and how families can partner with us.” We welcome parents and families of our school community to join us via Zoom for two sessions at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and learn more about what Chief Bethel calls “the safety net we create for our students.”
