Eat Right Philly provides nutrition education programs and support to schools on implementation of the Wellness Policy.

Nutrition Education in the Classroom

  • Eat Right Philly provides students with interactive, hands-on experiences and food tastings in the classroom.
  • Lesson topics such as healthy snacks and beverages, fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity and reading food labels give students the tools needed to make healthy food and activity choices.
  • All curriculum is evidenced-based and approved by PA SNAP-Ed.

Healthy Schools

Eat Right Philly gives support to schools as they implement the Wellness Policy.  To help schools identify their action plan, we use a three step process to get schools started:

  • Step 1

Schools create a wellness team/identify a wellness champion, or sometimes find an already organized group such as a School Advisory Council (SAC). The groups often include the Health, PE teachers, School Nurses and/or Principal.

  • Step 2

The wellness team/champion will then critically look at their school’s current situation and create a wellness action plan. This is done by using the School Health Index.

  • Step 3

Through education, resources, promotions, training, and technical assistance, Eat Right Philly supports and guides schools in response to their wellness action plan.
