EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT (ESSA)

“With this bill, we reaffirm that fundamental American ideal—that every child, regardless of race, income, background, the zip code where they live, deserves the chance to make of their lives what they will.” —President Barack Obama

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was passed in December of 2015, and governs the K–12 public education policy. It replaces ESEA, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, more commonly referred to as No Child Left Behind. ESSA implementation provides an opportunity for educators and other school personnel to work collaboratively to drive learning decisions to benefit students and strengthen partnerships with parents, communities, to advocate for what students need.
