Steps and procedures for fostering a positive and healthy school environment after a traumatic event or loss, for students and staff alike.

If your school experiences a loss or trauma, the best practice for students and staff is to be proactive in addressing the trauma, and take steps as a school to respond and progress together.

  1. Immediately contact your administrator, assistant superintendent and Prevention and Intervention (PI) Liaison.
  2. Your PI Liaison will help you coordinate a school-wide crisis response so that your school staff, community and students have the support they need to understand and process the circumstances.
  3. The Office of Prevention and Intervention partners with DBH, CBH, SAP and other mental health providers to address immediate grief and trauma response needs, and to arrange for ongoing support groups as needed.
