ECYEH\u2019s priorities include identifying and tracking the number of students experiencing homelessness and providing supports such as school enrollment assistance, uniforms, transportation, backpacks\/school supplies\/other needs, and referrals. This brief provides information about progress toward the goals of the ECYEH grant program and priorities of SDP staff.<\/p>\n<p>Key findings include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ECYEH identified a larger percentage of students experiencing homelessness in 2022-23 compared to 2021-22.<\/li>\n<li>Students identified as \u201cdoubled up\u201d represented the most frequent living arrangement for those experiencing homelessness.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to having a higher rate of chronic truancy, students identified as experiencing homelessness also scored lower on standardized assessments, had higher rates of suspensions, and had lower rates of on-time graduation.<\/li>\n<li>ECYEH continued their Teen Evolution Experience Network (TEEN) program and created new partnerships that supported students experiencing homelessness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_btn title=&#8221;CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE BRIEF&#8221; style=&#8221;gradient-custom&#8221; gradient_custom_color_1=&#8221;#0b315b&#8221; gradient_custom_color_2=&#8221;#398635&#8243; align=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; button_block=&#8221;true&#8221; link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.philasd.org%2Fresearch%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F90%2F2024%2F07%2FECYEH-in-SDP-Analysis-of-2022-23-Data_July-2024.pdf&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) provides grant funding to eight regions in Pennsylvania to serve students experiencing homelessness through the Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) program.
