[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]SDP received a grant from the William Penn Foundation<\/a> to redesign 34 pre-kindergarten to second grade classrooms into interactive learning environments. Physical renovations and classroom set-ups were complete by the end of summer 2017.\u00a0These renovations and activities built upon the District-wide Early Literacy Strategy<\/a> already underway in the District. ORE’s evaluation examined five primary questions over the two year grant period:<\/p>\n

  1. To what extent have the renovations and professional development been implemented as intended?<\/li>\n
  2. To what extent are classroom teachers satisfied with the renovations and professional development?<\/li>\n
  3. How do teachers perceive changes to their instructional practices and student outcomes associated with the project?<\/li>\n
  4. To what extent has the program improved teacher-student interactions?<\/li>\n
  5. Did students in the treatment classrooms show growth in literacy and attendance rates? If so, to what degree?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
