{"id":4197,"date":"2018-08-02T13:27:17","date_gmt":"2018-08-02T17:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/research\/?p=4197"},"modified":"2021-05-04T15:23:34","modified_gmt":"2021-05-04T19:23:34","slug":"reading-specialists-implementation-and-outcomes-2016-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/research\/2018\/08\/02\/reading-specialists-implementation-and-outcomes-2016-17\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading Specialists Implementation and Outcomes, 2016-17"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In 2016-17, certified Reading Specialists in 18 schools supported students in grades K-3 who were reading significantly below grade level.\u00a0To examine the implementation and effectiveness of this program, ORE administered a Reading Specialist Survey and examined the AIMSweb outcomes of the intervention students who were seen by a Reading Specialist for the length of the school year. <strong>\u00a0This 2016-17 Implementation and Outcomes report responds to the following exploratory questions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>How many students received support from a Reading Specialist and what were their characteristics?<\/li>\n<li>With what frequency did students receive support from a Reading Specialist?<\/li>\n<li>What is the perception of the Reading Specialists in terms of their ability to fulfill their role and responsibilities and meet the needs of students?<\/li>\n<li>What are the primary barriers to implementation as reported by Reading Specialists?<\/li>\n<li>How satisfied are the Reading Specialists with the training and support provided by SDP?<\/li>\n<li>Do students who receive support from a Reading Specialist (intervention students) demonstrate improvements in literacy outcomes?
