{"id":4959,"date":"2020-02-21T13:46:51","date_gmt":"2020-02-21T18:46:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/research\/?p=4959"},"modified":"2023-11-13T13:51:59","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T18:51:59","slug":"ninth-grade-academy-year-1-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/research\/2020\/02\/21\/ninth-grade-academy-year-1-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Implementation of the Ninth Grade Academy in 2018-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In 2018-19, under the direction of the School District of Philadelphia\u2019s Office of High School Supports (OHSS), 27 District high schools implemented a Ninth-Grade Academy (NGA), an approach intended to smooth the transition for students from eighth to ninth grade. The Academy approach is holistic and focused on creating a community where ninth-graders can create a strong high school foundation that will lead to graduation in four years. A designated ninth-grade Assistant Principal (AP) was assigned to each Academy to lead implementation.<\/p>\n<p>This report draws on qualitative data from interviews with 24 NGA APs.
