This research brief\u00a0answers two questions about the\u00a0representativeness, or external validity, of the student and\u00a0parent\/guardian responses from 2019-20:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>How closely do student respondents to the DWS reflect\u00a0the demographic and educational characteristics\u00a0(ethnicity\/gender\/grade) of all students enrolled in\u00a0grades 3-12 in District and Charter schools?<\/li>\n<li>How closely do students of parent\/guardian\u00a0respondents reflect the demographic and educational\u00a0characteristics (ethnicity\/gender\/ grade) of students\u00a0enrolled in grades K-12 in District and Charter schools?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is an updated version of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/research\/2019\/02\/15\/representativeness-of-the-2017-18-district-wide-student-and-parent-guardian-survey-results\/\">an earlier report<\/a> that answered these same\u00a0questions using data from the 2017-18 DWS surveys.
