{"id":7680,"date":"2021-06-03T09:05:05","date_gmt":"2021-06-03T13:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/research\/?p=7680"},"modified":"2021-08-26T10:38:41","modified_gmt":"2021-08-26T14:38:41","slug":"budget-priorities-for-the-2021-22-school-year-survey-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/research\/2021\/06\/03\/budget-priorities-for-the-2021-22-school-year-survey-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Budget Priorities for the 2021-22 School Year: Survey Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The School District of Philadelphia (SDP) will receive over $1 billion in one-time federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act to help support the growing needs of our students and schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2021, the SDP community was invited to participate in a Budget Engagement Survey to help inform the School District of Philadelphia\u2019s plan to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic a stronger and more equitable school district. More than 12,000 people provided responses to the Budget Engagement Survey.<\/p>\n<p>The top three student learning supports ranked by respondents as most important were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Additional supports for Special Education Students<\/li>\n<li>Discretionary funding for schools (schools can decide how they would like to use the funds)<\/li>\n<li>An additional Math and Literacy Teacher Leader in every school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The top three building maintenance issues ranked by respondents as most important were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Addressing environmental hazards<\/li>\n<li>Installing air conditioning in buildings<\/li>\n<li>Improving ventilation in buildings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The top three student social-emotional needs ranked by respondents as most important were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Behavioral\/mental health services<\/li>\n<li>Before and after school enrichment opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Additional athletic opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=&#8221;CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE SLIDE DECK&#8221; style=&#8221;gradient-custom&#8221; gradient_custom_color_1=&#8221;#0b315b&#8221; gradient_custom_color_2=&#8221;#398635&#8243; align=&#8221;center&#8221; button_block=&#8221;true&#8221; link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.philasd.org%2Fresearch%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F90%2F2021%2F06%2F2021-22-Budget-Priorities-Survey-Results-Slide-Deck-June-2021.pdf&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Spring 2021 the Office of Research and Evaluation (ORE) surveyed School District of Philadelphia (SDP) stakeholders about what supports should be prioritized in the budget for the 2021-22 school year.
