Policy

Board Committees are an opportunity for Board Members to engage in public dialogue and establish, review, analyze, and discuss policy recommendations prior to consideration by the full Board.

Mission & Purpose

The Board of Education of the City of Philadelphia has constituted and appointed a Policy Committee. This Policy Committee will provide governance oversight of the District’s existing and any proposed policies established by and pursuant to applicable laws and regulations as well as coordination and reconciliation of existing or any proposed policies among any other committees of the Board.

  1. Setting and publishing meeting dates for the Committee;

  2. Reviewing and recommending policies for consideration by the Board;

  3. Reviewing and reconciling any existing and proposed policies originating or functionally deriving from and among any and all committees of the Board;

  4. Providing reports to the Board, as necessary or as requested by the Board; and

  5. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Board.

Public participation will occur for a specific amount of time on the agenda after presentations. Each participant will have 3 minutes to speak. Additional public participants will be allowed if time permits. Comment cards will also be available at each meeting for those who which to submit written comments.
