Superintendent Tony B. Watlington Sr. has launched a Transition Team as part of a three-phase effort to lay a strong foundation for student growth and achievement in the School District of Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
In Phase 1, Dr. Watlington held dozens of Listening and Learning Sessions with school communities, advocacy groups, community leaders and city officials. Insights gained from the Listening and Learning Sessions along with the Transition Team\u2019s recommendations will help the School District develop a new strategic plan.<\/p>\n
The Transition Team includes more than 80 members of the Philadelphia community, including parents, teachers, principals, unions, staff and leaders in education, business, local government and nonprofit organizations throughout the city.<\/p>\n
The Transition Team is assessing five key areas of the School District, including:<\/p>\n
Student achievement,
\nOperations,
\nAnti-racist District culture,
\nCommunity engagement and communications, and
\nEnriching and well-rounded school experiences.<\/p>\n
The Transition Team will make short-term and long-term recommendations to drive sustainable improvements in these areas.<\/p>\n
