{"id":11650,"date":"2023-01-30T12:03:35","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T17:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/schoolboard\/?p=11650"},"modified":"2023-01-30T12:06:42","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T17:06:42","slug":"board-monitors-progress-on-achieving-goals-guardrails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philasd.org\/schoolboard\/2023\/01\/30\/board-monitors-progress-on-achieving-goals-guardrails\/","title":{"rendered":"Board Monitors Progress on Achieving Goals &amp; Guardrails"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At its January 26th Action Meeting, the Board of Education held an end-of-year update on the Goals &amp; Guardrails progress monitoring sessions held in 2022. Last year, the Board monitored progress for all five academic Goals and all four Guardrails. As a reminder, Goals &amp; Guardrails is the Board\u2019s five-year strategic plan to raise student achievement. The five academic Goals focus on reading, math and college and career readiness. The Guardrails set the conditions that are necessary for learning. They call for:<\/p>\n<p>Welcoming and supportive schools,<br \/>\nEnriching and well rounded school experiences,<br \/>\nPartnering with parents\/family members, and<br \/>\nAddressing racist practices.<\/p>\n<p>In December, the Board monitored progress toward achieving Guardrail 3: Every parent and guardian will be welcomed and encouraged to be partners in their child\u2019s community. The Board reviewed two performance indicators for this Guardrail.<\/p>\n<p>The first indicator, which is the percentage of schools with a high \u201cRelationship Score\u201d on the\u00a0 Overall District Wide Survey was off track. Progress on the Guardrail was hampered by a low survey participation rate by schools.
