The Health Resource Centers (HRCs) are part of the Sexual Health Services strategy of the grant to increase student access to key preventive sexual health services, strengthen staff capacity and engage parents and community partners. Additionally, this grant requires the development and implementation of a referral program for accessing key services. The program has selected 16 priority schools to receive direct supports funded by the grant. HRC works to incorporate the following:
- Increasing the types of SHS provided
- Ensuring student privacy and confidentiality when providing STI/HIV preventive services
- Improving HRC policies, practices, and environments to ensure clinics are adolescent friendly;
- Ensuring HRC policies, practices, and environments are LGBT inclusive
- Implementing a standardized sexual risk assessment of all students attending HRC
- Improving awareness of STI/HIV preventive services through school-wide marketing, teacher and staff trainings, and HRC staff participation in health education lessons or school events
