What to Tour at the Farm

Here at The Fox Chase Farm we want you to experience as much as possible! We offer students more than just a tour! Request an hour lesson, of your choice, with our educator and a tour of our farm! BLACK WALNUT TREE

Learn how Indians used walnuts from our Black Walnut Tree. Even buildings on the farm were painted using walnuts!

EASTERN WHITE PINE TREE

How old can an Eastern White Pine Tree grow? How tall can they get to be? Come to the farm and visit with our tallest Pine Tree!

HONEY BEES*

50,000 bees in one hive! That’s a lot of help! Or is it? Who does the most work in the hive!? What can you make from their honey?

CHICKEN COOP (FEEDING OPPORTUNITY)

What’s the difference between a hen, rooster, and chick? Visit our display of chicks that were born Wednesday. Then see how they grown from one week to the next!

SPRING HOUSE

Visit our historic spring and manor house. Even when it’s 90 degrees outside, the spring house will stay 40 degrees!

BATS*

Take a walk to our woodland garden to see our bat house! Learn how bats help out on the farm!

SHEEP (FEEDING OPPORTUNITY)

What’s the difference between a ram, ewe, and lamb? What types of sheep are here at the farm? Why don’t our sheep have wool anymore!?

ROOT BOX

What will you find in our root box? Various types of vegetables! But you won’t see them unless you dig, dig, dig!

PLANTING STATION

How long does it take for corn to grow!? Come plant some, take it back to your classroom, and monitor it!

DONKEYS

Visit with our mother, Ellen, and daughter, Naomi! In many countries you may see them pulling carts, but not here!

MAPLE SUGAR

Where does sap come from? None other than our Maple trees here on the farm! But how do we get out the sap in the tree? Come find out!

RABBIT HUTCHES

Visit with our rabbits, Thumper and Chipper! Learn about their special eyes and nooses, theirs are different from yours and I’s!

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY & DAIRY CALF

Take a class photo in our barn! Visit with and feed our baby calves!

FOREST AND WOODLANDS

Learn about harvesting hardwood in the United Sates. See real saw blades and how trees capture pollutants from the air!

PETTING AREA

Visit with our goats, pigs, and cows. Be careful, they love to nibble on your clothes and hair!

VET STATION*

Use masks and stethoscopes to listen to the heart beat of some of our rabbits!

CORN FIELD

Corn can grow all around the world! How tall can they grow? Definitely taller than you!

GRINDING WHEAT

What happens when you grind wheat seeds? It turns to flour!? What yummy things can we make from this?

HEARTH OVEN

Come see what we’re cooking in our outdoor oven! Don’t stand too close, this oven is 800 degrees inside!

DAIRY BARN

Meet our dairy cow Geraldine! Geraldine is plastic, however she is the actual size of a dairy cow, though some can be much larger in size! 

ANIMAL TRACKING*

The farm has lots of visitors when we aren’t here. Go around and look for scat and tracks to identify some of our visitors!

PASTURE

Look for some visitors out in the pasture! Learn about the different grasses that are out in our pasture!

HAY AND STRAW BARN

What’s the difference between hay and straw? How much do you think our hay bales weigh?

BIRD WATCHING

Shhhh! Quietly walk through the woods to see our birds using binoculars.
