Policies

Uniform Policy

The School District of Philadelphia has a dress code for all students.
Hackett’s uniform colors are as follows:

Navy blue pants, Navy blue skirt or Jumper
Light blue collared shirt
Sneakers – Please consider sneakers with velcro until your child learns how to tie them.

  • Please label all of your child’s clothing with their name!

Homework Policy

Our homework policy for all grades K-5 is that no formal homework is assigned.  Students could be asked to complete unfinished class work and/or to read for enjoyment for 20 minutes each evening.  At Hackett, we work with students daily to foster a love for learning. Our curriculum provides students with hands-on, real-world experiences that provide many opportunities to practice concepts and skills during the school day. Research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance in elementary school. For this reason, we believe less homework means more time for students to spend with their families doing things they love, resulting in more willingness to learn in school.

Internet Acceptable Use Policy

Attention families: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a Federal law, requires that a school with certain exceptions obtain your written consent prior to the disclosure of personally identifiable information from your child’s education records. However, a school may disclose appropriately designated “directory information” without written consent, unless you have advised the school to the contrary in accordance with school district procedures. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow schools to include information from your child’s education records in certain school publications.

Parents who wish to opt their students out of directory information releases must complete an Opt-Out Form for each of their students, and must return each form to the school at which each student is enrolled by November 6, 2023.

Find more information, including the forms you need HERE.
