Dear School District of Philadelphia Families,
The School District of Philadelphia transitioned from Naviance to Xello, our new college and career readiness platform for Kindergarten through 12th grade. As we enter our second year of implementation, we are excited to share that parents and guardians now have access to Xello through the Parent Portal. Xello provides the same core functions families may remember from Naviance, including access to transcripts, college and career exploration tools, and grade-appropriate college and career readiness lessons, with an improved and more engaging experience for students.
We want to ensure all families are aware of this new resource and know how to access it.
The Student Experience in Xello
With Xello, students are supported in planning for success in school, career, and life. Through interactive lessons and activities, students:
- Build self-knowledge: Define their interests, skills, preferences, and aspirations so they can explore the opportunities right for them.
- Explore future options: Learn about career possibilities and educational pathways by exploring rich, engaging content and lessons.
- Create a personalized plan: Your child can create dynamic actionable plans that outline the steps needed to achieve school, career, and life goals.
- Learn and Reassess: Interactive lessons help your child develop age appropriate skills and knowledge for success in school and beyond.
Students can access Xello at school and at home on any device.
How Families Can Get Involved
Families are encouraged to explore Xello together with their child. Students can log into their accounts to share what they are learning about themselves and their future options.
Families now have their own access through the Parent Portal, where they can:
- Review their child’s Xello portfolio
- View transcripts
- Explore college and career options
- Review and approve the Course Planner (if required by the school)
Welcome to Xello Parent Videos
To help you get started, here are two short videos that walk families through Parent Portal access and key features in Xello:
How to Access Xello
If you do not already have a Parent Portal account, please create one here. If you already have an account, click here to Log into the Parent Portal. Open the Message Center (left menu). Click the Xello tile under “Parent & Family Launchpad.”
Learn More about Xello
Families are also invited to learn more about Xello and how to support their child’s college and career readiness journey. Parent & Family University will host a Virtual Xello session on December 10 at 10:00 AM. Reserve your spot here.
Privacy and Data Protection
Student safety and data privacy are top priorities. Xello complies with all requirements outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Student Privacy Pledge, which means there is no advertising, no sale or commercial use of student data, and all information is stored securely. You can learn more about the Xello experience at: www.xello.world.
We are excited to provide this tool to support every student in becoming future-ready, and we appreciate your continued partnership in your child’s journey.
If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor or the Office of Postsecondary Readiness.
Sincerely,
Office of Postsecondary Readiness
The School District of Philadelphia
