Rebecca Toll, a first-grade teacher at William Cramp Elementary School, has dedicated more than eight years to shaping strong readers, confident learners, and joyful classrooms. As a Teacher of the Month honoree for the School District of Philadelphia, Ms. Toll exemplifies the power of consistent, student-centered instruction paired with deep care for every child she serves.

Throughout her tenure at Cramp, Ms. Toll has remained intentional about staying current with best practices in both reading and mathematics. Her strong classroom management and supportive presence create a structured yet nurturing environment where students and staff alike feel supported and empowered. Her impact is clearly reflected in her results: Ms. Toll achieved an impressive ELA Student Growth Percentile (SGP) of 91, and 73% of her students concluded the year reading on grade level.

Beyond the data, Ms. Toll’s true strength lies in the culture she builds each day. She maintains a highly effective, positive learning environment grounded in mutual respect and high expectations for all learners. Her proactive communication with families fosters trust and partnership, reinforcing the shared goal of student success.

Ms. Toll’s influence also extends beyond the classroom. Through after-school clubs and sustained mentorship, she maintains strong relationships with both current and former students, providing ongoing guidance and community connection. Her classroom reflects a deep commitment to equitable learning. By using a wide range of engagement strategies and intentionally celebrating students’ cultural identities and creative contributions, she ensures every learner feels seen, valued, and capable of mastery.

Her impact is evident in the daily independence and confidence her students demonstrate. Even students who are still progressing toward grade-level benchmarks are empowered to manage routines independently, monitor their own growth, and celebrate their improvements with pride. This reflects Ms. Toll’s ability not only to teach curriculum, but to cultivate resilient, self-aware learners who believe in their own potential.

After more than eight years of dedicated service at William Cramp Elementary, Rebecca Toll continues to model what distinguished teaching looks like in action. Her students achieve, believe in themselves, and thrive because of the intentional systems and supportive culture she builds every single day.

Congratulations, Ms. Toll, on this well-deserved recognition as Teacher of the Month!
