Dear School District of Philadelphia Staff and Families,
Due to a Wind Advisory and Tornado Watch issued by the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management, all after-school activities taking place outside across the District are canceled today, Monday, March 16, 2026. All after care programming will remain open.
The advisory is in effect from 2:00 p.m. today until 2:00 a.m. tomorrow, with wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour possible. In addition, a Tornado Watch is currently in effect until 7:00 p.m., as conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms that may produce tornadoes. Out of an abundance of caution, all after-school programs, athletics, and extracurricular activities scheduled for this afternoon and evening are canceled.
All schools will dismiss at their regularly scheduled times. Families and staff are encouraged to use caution when traveling and to monitor local weather updates.
