Celebrating Our October Teacher of the Month: Maryann Milewski of William Loesche Elementary School
The School District of Philadelphia is proud to recognize Maryann Milewski, a second-grade teacher at William Loesche Elementary School, as our October 2026 Teacher of the Month!
Last week, Mrs. Milewski was honored with a special surprise celebration featuring Superintendent Dr. Tony Watlington, Sr., and FOX29’s Bob Kelly, recognizing her nearly 30 years of dedicated service to students and the school community.
For nearly three decades, Mrs. Milewski has been more than an educator. She has been a mentor, an advocate, and a source of encouragement for generations of young learners. Known for her unwavering commitment to student success, she consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Her impact extends well beyond academics. Whether organizing schoolwide celebrations, fostering meaningful connections with families, or creating a welcoming classroom environment, Mrs. Milewski embodies the passion and dedication that make Philadelphia’s educators extraordinary.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the celebration came from the students themselves. As a special tribute, her students presented her with a beautiful painting of a tree, with each leaf made from the fingerprint of a child in her class. The thoughtful gift symbolized the unique mark each student leaves on her heart, just as she has left a lasting impression on theirs.

Like a tree that grows stronger with each passing season, Mrs. Milewski’s legacy continues to flourish through the countless lives she has nurtured over nearly 30 years.
Her students’ admiration is a testament to the relationships she has built and the difference she continues to make each day.
Please join us in congratulating Maryann Milewski, our October Teacher of the Month! We thank her for her remarkable dedication, compassion, and commitment to helping Philadelphia’s children learn, grow, and thrive.
Congratulations, Mrs. Milewski! Your impact will be felt for generations to come.
