An Election Message from the Superintendent

Dear School District of Philadelphia Families:
Tomorrow, November 7, is Election Day and all polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Check out voting information and find your polling place. All school buildings, except those serving as voting sites, will be closed and there will be no classes for students as we join our City, state, and nation in selecting our leaders.
In this historic city where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S Constitution were signed, our unfinished work is to educate and prepare all children for any future they desire so that they have equal opportunities to participate in the world’s largest economy. The School District represents the diversity that is America, and all of our voices and votes matter. Accordingly, I would like to encourage all who are eligible–our students, staff members, and families–to go out and vote tomorrow if you did not participate in early voting.
And please join me in sharing your “I Voted” sticker images with us on social media tomorrow. Let’s show everyone that we are doing our part to shape a brighter future for Philadelphia!
In partnership,
Tony B. Watlington Sr., Ed.D.

Superintendent
The School District of Philadelphia
