At Carver High School, the spirit of innovation and teamwork thrives, personified by Senior of the Month Jason Noel, known as the school’s “happy guy.” His contagious energy and determination have made a significant impact on his peers and the wider school community. His mission is to bring light and laughter into the lives of those around him. Throughout the busy senior year, friends consistently describe him as a symbol of cheerfulness, resilience, and genuine motivation, always lifting the spirits of those nearby.

A testament to his leadership is shown through his commitment to track and field. As team captain, he has inspired his teammates, developing strong bonds through their shared training experiences. These intense workouts have built their mental and physical strength, exemplifying the core values of perseverance and teamwork—qualities that will support him in his transition to college.

His dedication to academic achievement is clear in his ambition to tackle Carver’s demanding curriculum with enthusiasm. In AP Seminar, he has enhanced his skills in literary analysis and research, often acknowledging the unwavering support of teachers who have been pivotal in his academic success. His gratitude for the educational opportunities at Carver inspires him to instill the same enthusiasm in others.

Jason’s high school experience is a vibrant depiction of leadership, perseverance, and positivity. As he prepares for the next chapter of his life, he carries with him invaluable lessons in friendship, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. With these attributes, he is not just ready for the future; he is set to excel.

We asked Jason our favorite list of questions:

Why do you think you were nominated as Senior of the Month?

I believe I was nominated as Senior of the month because of the people that I have around me. I have many supporters that have gone out of their way to support me, my athletics, academics, and passions and I’ve made it one of my goals to live up to that support. The way I’ve found to do that is the continuing uplifting of others around me and to find the athletic and academic success that I’ve achieved.

You were nominated by John Taylor-Baranik. Explain your relationship to him? Explain their role in your experience at your school.

Mr. TB, as we call him, is my track coach and was also my teacher for AP Seminar last year. He’s really been there for me every step of the way. In track he’s pushed me athletically, but also just to step outside of my comfort zone as well as to really step up and take a big role as a leader and captain on a team. Part of being a leader too that he helped instill in me is staying on top of my work. I’m pretty good with keeping most of my work on time, if not early and that also transferred over to college applications, building and writing my resume along with other requirements for my graduation.

What is one thing you’d like to share about yourself that most people don’t know about you?

I am a very artsy person as well, I’m not just a jock that can keep up in a classroom. I’m a big jazz guy, a huge huge Louis Armstrong and The Hornheads fan. For me it’s all about the horns and the drums. This year I’ve also rekindled being a reader. I was in the library every week up until high school, because it was less than 5 minutes from my house and I had so much more time. Now though the big thing that’s gotten me back into it is audiobooks I think they’re great. I also was a big writer freshman and sophomore year, and I’m starting to look into performing live poetry, I’d love to start getting into that.

What do you enjoy most when you are not at school?

I just like finding things out honestly. I’m big into all sorts of media like shows, animation, comics, movies. I love a good video essay about a character’s development, or subtle symbolism in a project. I also find it fun to just learn about different things, all the information you could want for almost anything is available for free right in your pocket. I believe it’s all about you going out to look for it.

How did you choose your high school? What is the best thing about attending school at Carver High School?

I actually had a godmother that attended Carver and raved about it, that was really big in my decision to attend and I don’t regret it. The best part about it is that they care. It’s full of extremely passionate teachers and advisors that are fully willing to help with close to anything.

What is one thing that the School District could do to improve our service to students?

I honestly wish there was even more information about different free resources that are available. For example with a library card you can access so many free audiobooks, I wish more people knew and took advantage of that. I know the district does advertise plenty of free opportunities, but I still wish there was even more, there can never be too much information.

Jason, we are so excited for you – best of luck in the college and career of your dreams!
