Find Your Fit” Campaign Highlights Educational Options For Students

PHILADELPHIA – Students in the School District of Philadelphia can now begin the process of “finding their fit” for the 2020-2021 school year.

The School District’s K-12 School Selection process for the 2020-2021 runs until 5 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019.

The school selection process invites students who will be entering kindergarten up to 12th grade in the 2020-2021 school year to apply for admission to up to five schools outside their neighborhood school. The School District offers students more than 100 enriching programs, ranging from aviation to welding. School selection is the time for students and families to do their homework on schools and programs and discuss a student’s interests, academic goals and career pursuits.

The School District is again promoting the school selection process through the “Find Your Fit” campaign. The effort includes enhanced online resources for students and parents to research schools, assistance from counselors at schools and advertising on buses, trains, billboards and radio.

“It’s important for students and families to understand the great educational opportunities available to them across the District,” Dr. William R. Hite, superintendent of The School District of Philadelphia. “Once they do that, they can truly find their fit and excel.”

To help share information on high school options, the District is participating in the annual Philly High School Fair being held today and tomorrow at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. District principals, teachers and high school students will be on hand to talk about their schools so that families can make an informed choice during school selection.

Students and families apply for school selection through an online portal available at philasd.org/FindYourFit. Application results will be available in early 2020.
