As reported by Melodee Jackson, CTE’s Work-based Learning Coordinator

On January 9, 2023, Damien Ford was identified and acknowledged by the Pennsylvania FFA with the state STAR Award in Agro Sciences. The STAR Award is given to one FFA member that demonstrates top engagement in supervised agricultural experience throughout their high school experience. Damien won the award because his scholastic and CTE-based experiences demonstrate outstanding achievement, active participation in content-specific internships, extracurricular activities, and academic success.

Damien is a Senior at W.B. Saul High School and his state acknowledgment is a result of his active participation in community service learning activity, internships, and employment opportunities within agriculture over the past two years as a Natural Resource Management major. Programs he participated in include Saul’s Straight Outta Compost program, Henry Got Crops CSA, Glen Ford’s Riverways Ambassador program, Friends of the Wissahickon forest services, and the PHENND Education for Sustainability leadership opportunities for youth.
