International Exchange Presents, La Boutique Fantasque (The Fantastic Toy Shop), a fun and witty ballet about friendship and loyalty, to the music of Ottorino Respighi. Archived performance streaming free May 27–June 12, 2020, with free study guide and pre and post classroom activities.

We invite educators and their students to watch an archive performance of La Boutique Fantasque (The Fantastic Toy Shop), a fun and witty ballet performed to the delightful music of Ottorino Respighi. A classic of the early 20th century, La Boutique Fantasque tells the story of loyal toys who outwit the humans who would separate them. This fully staged ballet is a wonderful context for studying music, movement, and elements of literature and storytelling, such as narrative, characters, motifs, and fairy tales. With guest artist Yosbel Delgado-Hernandez and a youth cast from Wissahickon Dance Academy in Germantown, the 45-minute performance is designed for youth audiences K-12. We also provide a guide to the ballet that includes pre- and post-performance information and activities designed to deepen students’ experience of this living art.
