Dear School District of Philadelphia Families,

Last month Superintendent Watlington shared that the School District is seeking new instructional resources to compliment our culturally responsive curriculum in the subject areas of: PreK -12 Math, PreK-12 English Language Arts (ELA), PreK-12 Science, Grades 3-12 English Language Development (ELD), and K-12 Special Education. These instructional resources are critically important because they are hands-on tools that support our teachers in delivering classroom instruction, and help students better understand and apply what they are learning.

Thank you to those of you who have participated in our search so far! Many of you provided feedback, in-person at drop-in sessions and via the online survey, that helped us narrow down the most important things to consider when selecting instructional resources. Many of you also visited with our potential vendors at the meet and greet events. Your input has been valuable.

We have selected our Core Instruction Resource vendor finalists for each subject area. Each has agreed to perform a lesson showcase for the School District community, to give us an opportunity to understand how their product will benefit our students and teachers in their classrooms. Starting April 10th, parents, families, students and District staff are invited to view Core Instructional Resource Vendor Presentations & Lesson Showcases, and provide feedback on each. The virtual presentations, organized by content area, will be uploaded onto our Core Instructional Resources website here.

Thank you for partnering with us to seek out the best educational resources for children!

Sincerely,

Dr. Nyshawana Francis-Thompson (Dr. Ny)
Chief (Interim)
Office of Curriculum & Instruction
