Dear School District of Philadelphia Families,

The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management has issued a Winter Weather Advisory citywide from 7 PM tonight, January 15, 2024 until 1 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2024 due to expected snow and possible freezing precipitation. Please check your local forecasts for the latest information.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. We are encouraging students, families, and staff to travel safely tomorrow morning, as all school programs and activities will operate on a normal schedule. All late arrivals due to weather-related issues recorded today will be excused. Parents and guardians should plan for possible delays with the District’s yellow bus services and on Septa’s subway, trolley and bus routes. If you anticipate delays or have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s principal or school.

All yellow bus services will proceed as usual, although there may be delays on individual routes. All athletic events and afterschool activities will also proceed as scheduled. Additionally, the District’s Central Office will be open during normal business hours.

The forecast is predicting light snow tonight into Tuesday as the storm moves through the area, with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches by Tuesday morning, and a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain or drizzle possible through early afternoon. Exercise caution when traveling.
