As the end of the school year rapidly comes to a close, parents and guardians know better than anyone how hectic and how many moving parts there are in a student’s life. Even as students gear up for the summer, be sure to stay mindful of ways that your student can stay engaged until the very end of the school year!

Keep School Attendance a Priority. Try not to plan too many social events on school nights, so that your child can still get plenty of sleep and be ready for school the next day! There’s still lots of learning and wrapping-up projects that happen at the end of the school year. Try not to schedule vacations or trips on school days!

Stay Consistent With Homework. We know it’s hard to keep motivated with academics until the very end, but encourage your child to stay motivated and focused on their homework. Make sure to support your child to stay consistent with their studies and homework routines in order to finish up those final assignments with fidelity!

Encourage Your Children and Acknowledge Their Progress. As the year wraps up, encourage your child about how far they’ve come and how much they’ve learned. Support them by reminding how much good work they’ve done and not to give up or stop until the very end. Your child can look back at work he/she has done in order to stay motivated.

Keep expectations clear and consistent. It may be tempting to slip into a more relaxed mode, but be sure to keep your expectations clear for your child. The behaviors that you have expected of your child all school year should hold even at the end of the year–both at home and at school.

Remember, it’s not over until it’s over! Let’s keep going strong until the last day of school so that you and your child can be proud of the hard work and progress that you’ve made together this past school year!
